WWE is continuing to focus heavily on the rivalry between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. The two have already clashed in Crown Jewel, Saudi Arabia, with the Tribal Chief coming out victorious thanks also to the fundamental help of Jey and Jimmy Uso.
On Day 1, the first pay-per-view of 2022, Roman will be called upon to defend his Universal title from the onslaught of the Beast. However, for the first time in over a year, Reigns will not be able to count on the presence of Paul Heyman alongside him.
Their collaboration began at SummerSlam 2020 and allowed the former Shield member to become the symbol of the company. During the final episode of SmackDown, Roman decided to fire him to general amazement. As if that weren't enough, he also inflicted a devastating Superman Punch on him.
As part of his Drive Thru podcast, former WWE manager Jim Cornette said that Roman Reigns-Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar was one of the best segments of the entire year. "The segment started with Roman Reigns embracing Paul Heyman.
The Universal Champion picked up the microphone and thanked Paul for his help, but immediately fired him. Heyman was left speechless. Reigns turned as if to leave, but then threw him a Superman Punch. He didn't hit him hard, but it was enough to knock Paul Heyman out.
Afterwards, Reigns and the Usos grabbed chairs to hit Paul, but Brock Lesnar's entrance drove the WWE Universe crazy. Brock easily got rid of the Usos, got into the ring and handed his iconic F-5 to poor Roman. I think it was a beautiful angle," Cornette analyzed.
Jim also commented on the news of Kevin Owens' renewal: "WWE couldn't afford to let another talent go to AEW. Knowing the situation very well, KO managed to snatch a very convenient agreement from the company on an economic level."
Bron Breakker: "I want a match with Brock Lesnar"
Since its relaunch last September, NXT 2.0 has relied heavily on Bron Breakker. Son of Rick Steiner and former football player, Breakker is impressing many people with his explosive power and is carving out more and more space in the WWE development brand.
In a recent interview with WWE El Brunch, a show dedicated to the Spanish market, Bron Breakker talked about a possible meeting with Brock Lesnar, recalling the sensations experienced during their first meeting backstage: "I have already met him, I think it was 2017 or so.
I was visiting Raw backstage when I was still in college. I met him on that occasion, but I've never seen him since I joined WWE. I would definitely like to work with Brock. He is an animal. I think he would be able to elevate me exactly like Roderick Strong did.
You know, he pushed me to get better and perform at his level and I think Brock Lesnar would do the same. I think it would be a real war between the two of us. ”In the interview Bron Breakker referred to the match that took place in the latest installment of NXT, when he faced a veteran like Roderick Strong, for whom Breakker offered further compliments.
Bron Breakker has been proposed by the WWE as the star of the new NXT 2.0 since its first episode and is already taking away some first satisfaction. After a Halloween Havoc defeat against champion Tommaso Ciampa, Breakker took Team 2.0 to victory in the latest edition of the War Games and is currently vying for a new title shot, probably for the next New Year's Evil special episode.
During the same interview, the second generation wrestler also stated that he would like to have the honor of defeating the universal champion of Roman Reigns and to be able to perform alongside such prominent names as Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.
