The Godfather: "The myth of Hulk Hogan is based on a flood of lies"

Hulk Hogan can undoubtedly be counted among the greatest wrestlers of any era, having personally contributed to spreading the popularity of wrestling in every corner of the world.

Despite his undeniable technical and acting skills, the reputation of the two-time WWE Hall of Famer has been questioned multiple times in recent years due to a number of controversial incidents. The reference is mainly to the audio clip that emerged in 2007, in which the voice of the Hulk was clearly heard as he used racist epithets.

At WrestleMania 37, Hogan was even booed by the public in Florida, the state where he spent most of his youth. The 68-year-old from Augusta holds the record for consecutive years spent as a world champion and - after Bruno Sammartino - is the second wrestler ever with the most overall days as a WWE Champion.

Speaking on the Midnight Hustle podcast, WWE legend The Godfather recalled his experience working with Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and Sid Justice way back in 1992. Without going into details, Wright hinted that he never treated Hogan as a friend.

The Godfather said: "I was having a hard time with my wife's divorce, so it's possible I wasn't 100% lucid while working. Hogan, Warrior and Sid meant nothing to me. I never cared about Hulk Hogan, he wasn't my friend.

He isn't even today, I have to be honest. He's not the good guy that WWE has tried to paint over the years, ”said The Godfather. Hogan defeated Sid Justice by disqualification in the WrestleMania 8 main event in 1992.

“There were not many credible heel characters at that time. That's why I was thrown among the dogs. However, that's how business works. I am a businessman myself. I can tell you that I intervened late because the WWE manager didn't warn me to run into the ring at the right time."
