Ricky Steamboat is a big name and a big legend in the world of WWE. A lot of interesting things happened to him during career, so Ricky has a lot of anecdotes about it. Steamboat recalled his time in WCW when he had the opportunity to meet Steve Austin, who he wrestled.

He reveals that in 1994, after a match, he went to the WCW office and stood up for Stone Cold. He explained to the management that he was the new guy who was destined for great things. He claims that even then he knew that Steve Austin aka Stone Cold has what it takes to become a big star.

Ricky Steamboat felt proud because Steve Austin made a great career

Not long after that event, Ricky Steamboat retired. He continued to follow the world of wrestling, so shortly after he wrestled with Steve Austin, he saw what kind of star he had become and in a way he felt proud.

Only then did he learn that his WWE name was Stone Cold. Of course, Stone Cold has made a great career, and he is certainly one of the most recognizable faces in WWE with a lot of fans around the world.
"My very last match, I was working for WCW at the time in 1994, was with Steve Austin in Roanoke, Virginia, okay, and it was for the United States Championship.

That's when I hurt my back. Prior to that, I went into the office and said, 'This kid Austin, he's got it.' He's got the "it" thing. You know, he knows what he's doing. He knows how to work. He's got great timing, and all his mechanics,'" Steamboat said.

"So I thought then that he had it. And, when I hurt my back and I decided to go out and it was 20 years, and I decided to go out of the business, the next thing I knew, he was in WWE, and he became Stone Cold, and then the rest is history.

But I knew when we were working with the other company that this kid's got it." as quoted by sportskeeda
