In 2020 WWE Superstars were barred from continuing to post content on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, although there was the option for them to want to share earnings with the company, with scores of athletes getting angry even trying to find a better deal with WWE, without success.
Then in April 2022, the company had met with everyone to try to solve this problem and recently, as reported by Fightful Select, WWE finally made an agreement with the Twitch channel to allow its Superstars to be able to work with almost no one restriction.
The official announcement came directly from the Stamford-based company via a press release, to the delight of many fans who will have many other contents to enjoy, especially with regard to Monday Night Raw.
The words on the agreement
"Official Monday Night Raw Sidecast on Twitch launches today.
STAMFORD, Conn.-(BUSINESS WIRE)-- WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced a multi-year partnership with Twitch that will see the return of the Official WWE Channel and popular WWE Superstar Channels, featuring live and exclusive content.
In addition to the launch of the channel, WWE will debut a complementary sidecast on Monday Night RAW today, bringing the WWE Universe behind the scenes and closer to the in-ring action. The weekly viewing experience will be led by a rotating cast of hosts and will regularly feature appearances by WWE Superstars, one-of-a-kind and exclusive content such as behind-the-scenes interviews, and more.
Viewers can stream the sidecast live every Monday starting at 8 p.m. ET via twitch.tv/wwe or the Twitch App. In addition, the WWE Official Channel will be home to other live productions and will serve as an alternate live stream feed for all WWE Premium Live Event press conferences." Twitch is a live streaming platform owned by Amazon.com.
It was launched on June 6, 2011 as a spin-off of the similar platform Justin.tv as a platform dedicated to video games. Although it is still mainly focused on video games and is the industry leader in the broadcasting of e-sports events and competitions, it also presents broadcasts dedicated to content on various topics and live in real life. The contents can be viewed both live and in deferred time.
