Steve Austin: "I respect Brock Lesnar!"

Despite being together in WWE, albeit for a short amount of time, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar have never met in a ring. Since his 2002 debut, Lesnar made headlines while Austin was a major star in the company at the time.
However, when a match between the two was scheduled in Atlanta, Steve Austin left the company because he was not satisfied with some creative decisions and has repeatedly insisted that the fight should not take place without a proper construction.
In the end the match did not materialize and Stone Cold returned to WWE before Wrestlemania 19 to then face The Rock taking a rematch at the Showcase of the Immortals. It would be his last match until his return against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38.
In a recent interview with WESH, Steve Austin wanted to talk about Brock Lesnar's career and what he would like to do if he hadn't retired.
Steve Austin wanted to face Brock Lesnar
On the possibility of fighting Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin revealed: "If I hadn't retired I would have wanted to fight Brock.
A long time ago I was supposed to wrestle him in Atlanta. The match was not exceptionally designed in terms of creativity, so it was never seen. I have so much respect for him though and he is one of the best athletes out there.
Entering the world of MMA and becoming a WWE World Champion is not for everyone. He has had an incredible career and no one has had one like him, also from the point of view of longevity." Prior to WrestleMania 39, it was reported in Los Angeles that there was a possibility of both Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar meeting in the same ring.
However, the WWE Hall of Famer declined to wrestle at the event as he was busy filming his new show Stone Cold Takes On America. So could there be the possibility in the future of an event between the two WWE legends?
