Here's what happened at the WWE Elimination Chamber PPV held on 2/18/2023 at the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Usual recap of the feuds and predictions of the matches present in the event card Women's Elimination Chamber Match: Asuka beats Carmella, Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya, Nikki Cross and Liv Morgan (Asuka will challenge Bianca Belair at Wrestlemania for the RAW Women's Championship).
Singles Match: Bobby Lashley beats Brock Lesnar (via DQ). Mixed Tag Team Match: Edge & Beth Phoenix beat The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley w/Dominik Mysterio). Men's Elimination Chamber Match for the US Championship: Austin Theory beats Seth Rollins, Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano, Damian Priest and Bronson Reed (Austin Theory remains champion).
Single Match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (w/Paul Heyman) defeats Sami Zayn. The Raw Women's, SmackDown Women's, Intercontinental and Unified Tag Team titles went undefended. The Kickoff panel featured Canadian sports journalist Ariel Helwani as a guest, also famous for interviewing various wrestlers.
The theme of the event is Psycho in my head by the rock band Skillet, famous for having lent their songs to WWE events on other occasions. According to several insiders, Sami Zayn had no chance of beating Roman Reigns, so much so that Vince Russo had spoken like this in his last speech to the microphones of Sportskeeda: "Nobody thinks Sami Zayn can come out of Elimination Chamber with the world title.
A question arises spontaneously: if Sami were to put the Tribal Chief in serious difficulty, would it be enough to conquer the WWE Universe? I doubt it. Even if he puts in a great performance in front of his home crowd, the outcome of the match would still be what people expected. I don't think this match will allow Zayn to make another leap in quality."
