Road to WrestleMania is now about to begin. This Saturday, January 28th there will be Royal Rumble, the event that will host its characteristic Royal Rumble Matches for both men and women, where two challengers will be chosen for two champions to be sent into the main event of the Showcase of the Immortals.

In all of this, WWE is obviously also working on the rest of the show's card, already thinking about which challenges in singles or couples it will be able to offer its fans on the two WrestleMania evenings and one of the names that has been written in the plans is precisely that of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

According to a report by Fightful Select (registration required), and as transcribed for us by Inside The Ropes, WWE had proposed a very important match to the Texas Rattlesnake, in fact they wanted to send him against Roman Reigns.

The Austin-based team was approached with the idea of doing just this potentially epic showdown and apparently WWE made the offer by putting a large amount in the middle.

Some think it's not a good idea

Even before Fightful could inform us of the thing, speaking in his podcast, Booker T had given his opinion on this possible clash between the legend and the Samoan champion: "I don't think it works.

For Stone Cold getting off the couch at this age is quite difficult. Getting in the ring with Roman would definitely not be a good idea," saying that he doesn't think WWE would put Austin in a match like the Royal Rumble. Plans regarding Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 appear to be unclear at the moment.

While rumors have long circulated that Reigns is increasingly headed towards a match against The Rock, a new leak has hinted that he may even wrestle twice during the PPV. According to insiders there were backstage discussions to have Reigns play two matches against The Rock and also Cody Rhodes.
