Mikaela Shiffrin will compete in 5 Olympic races!

Mikaela Shiffrin is an American alpine skier among the top athletes of the US national team of the 2010s. She is a specialist in technical disciplines, but has proven to be competitive even in fast ones, so much so that she is among the seven female skiers with Petra Kronberger, Pernilla Wiberg, Janica Kostelić, Anja Pärson, Lindsey Vonn and Tina Maze able to win in all five specialties and the only one able to do it in six, with the parallel slalom.

She holds two Olympic titles (special slalom in Sochi 2014 and giant slalom in Pyeongchang 2018) and six world championships (special slalom in Schladming 2013, in Vail / Beaver Creek 2015 and in Sankt Moritz 2017 supergiant and special slalom in Åre 2019 and combined in Cortina d 'Ampezzo 2021).

In her palmarès she also boasts three general World Cups, a supergiant World Cup, a giant slalom World Cup and six special slalom World Cups. In recent days Mikaela Shiffrin granted an interview to the Associated Press, talking about the Olympic Games in Beijing, where she announced that she will try to compete in all disciplines: slalom, giant, superg, downhill and combined.

In the interview she said: "For each one I hope indeed I dream of being able to compete in any discipline in China. But of course this means that I will have to do a very important and intense preparation, even mentally.

So I focused a lot on this and thought: what should I do to achieve this? And I'm not just talking about skiing, technique, and athletic training. There are things to do to feel good in a place I've never been before, with jet lag problems, and where I want to be as fast as possible."

Mikaela Shiffrin renounces the Lech race

Mikaela Shiffrin will not participate in the Lech parallel next weekend. The American skier has some back problems that appeared after her victory in the inaugural giant in Sölden, where she had narrowly beaten Lara Gut-Behrami.

The news is her coach Mike Day. The decision is due to back problems, as about a year ago, when she and she was forced to skip the opening in Soelden. This year, however, the American triumphed over Rettenbach three weeks ago, but since then she has trained little due to back pain, as she herself explained to the AP agency.

She infact said: "Now I have to let my back heal, not It will take too long if I take the right time, but it is frustrating because this is usually the time when I train in all four disciplines." At the moment it is too early to understand if and which other races Mikaela will have to give up besides the parallel of Lech.

She should be in both Levi and Killington, even Lake Louise in doubt. Mikaela Shiffrin is an American alpine skier.
