Chimaev celebrated convincingly in a wrestling match

It’s not particularly common for UFC fighters to perform in freestyle wrestling. We often see them in grappling matches, and boxing trips are only allowed to the biggest stars like Conor McGregor. However, Khamzat Chimaev and Jack Hermansson wrestled freestyle last night.

Chimaev is a fast-growing Chechen sensation, and wrestling is one of his main weapons in the rich arsenal he owns. Chimaev had a very good wrestling career in Sweden. He has won the Swedish Freestyle Wrestling Championship three times and is undefeated as a senior (24-0).

Khamzat had hoped to go to the Olympics as well, however, various problems with citizenship paperwork allowed the wrestler he beat (at the state championships) to go to the Olympics. Jack Hermansson, on the other hand, started wrestling in Greco-Roman style as a 9-year-old and was also the Swedish national champion.

Still, the UFC middleweight fighter has more of a reputation as a BJJ master than as a wrestler. Chimaev and Hermansson clashed as part of the Bulldog Fight Night event in Sweden, and Chechen won 8-0 with a Swedish passport.

Continuation of the fight

Khamzat took down his opponent right from the start, and it took Chimaev less than a minute to take a 6-0 lead. Very quickly, Chimaev scored two more points, and that result remained until the end of the match.

The UFC fighters did two rounds of three minutes each, and Hermansson presented a significantly better defense against the takedown during the second round, and he himself had good but unsuccessful attempts. Only two points were missing for Chimaev to lead 10-0 and there would be a so-called technical shower and an automatic stoppage of the match.

Jack Hermansson is a sixth-ranked fighter in the UFC middleweight division and is really the incredible ease with which Chimaev threw him during the first round. By the way, Jack Hermansson and Khamzat Chimaev are good friends and the match went in that tone.

They played a wrestling match in the category up to 187 "pounds" (84.82 kg), and it is interesting that Chimaev looked a bit bigger at the weigh-in than Hermansson, who performs exclusively in the middle category, while Khamzat Chimaev is currently going to the top of the welterweight category (170 ' pound ').

For the umpteenth time, Chimaev has shown how good he is at wrestling, and that Chechens simply have a certain talent for that, but practice and skills also play a big role. Khamzat had hoped to go to the Olympics as well, however, various problems with citizenship paperwork allowed the wrestler he beat (at the state championships) to go to the Olympics.
