Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2) won the main fight of the UFC Vegas 26 event, which took place on the night from Saturday to Sunday in the Las Vegas APEX complex. The Brazilian fighter unanimously defeated Michelle Waterson (18-9) in an event that, after all the problems with delays, dropped to only nine fights.
Rodriguez was more specific and gained an advantage on the referee's cards in the first 15 minutes. Waterson withstood numerous attacks and spiced up the fight, even more, when she knocked down her opponent in the fourth round and tried to reach the break with punches and elbows.
But Rodriguez took the fight to the final, fifth round. In the last five minutes, Waterson hit one high kick, and shortly afterward a powerful kick to the body that briefly injured Rodriguez. The Brazilian recovered very quickly from that attack and with a big swelling on the right side of her face brought the match to an end and recorded her second victory in a row.
Alex Morono recorded a big victory in the title fight of the evening, stopping the legendary Donald Cerrone with a technical knockout at the end of the introductory round. Morono opened the match very aggressively, and his approach paid off when he hit the popular 'Cowboy' hard with a great counter-attack or right-hand overhand.
Once sniffing the blood, the Houston American pounced on the UFC veteran and with a series of punches by the referee forced the match to be stopped. For Cerrone, this is, let's mention, the sixth fight in a row in which he does not know about the victory (5 defeats and 1 no contest).
Magny vs Neal
That same evening, Neil Magny defeated Geoff Neal by unanimous decision. 'The Haitian Sensation' came to victory mostly with its control and activities from a distance, but also with more successful exchanges in the clinch.
Gregor Gillespie and Diego Ferreira had a very attractive match. A lot of 'grappling' exchanges and reversals marked this fight, and after a meaningful first-round Gillespie was more rested, which he took advantage of and stopped his opponent in the last seconds of the second half with control in the ground, accompanied by numerous blows.
We can say that the UFC Vegas show was really interesting for all the spectators, and we were able to watch great fights. Certainly, the fight between Cerrone and Morono had the most interest, in which Morono showed how great a fighter he is and that he can do a lot in the UFC.
Cerrone still doesn't seem to want to give up on the UFC, but is already thinking about his next opponent and his future in the UFC.
