Shortly after Conor McGregor predicted and demonstrated that he would stop Dustin Poirier in a new fight, ‘The Diamond’ also came forward and reminded the Irishman of an unfulfilled promise that was much talked about in the days around UFC 257.
Recall, before their rematch in January this year, one of the main stories was that McGregor would donate as much as half a million dollars to the Poirier 'The Good Fight' foundation. It seemed like a finished job for a while.
Even Dustin’s wife Jolie thanked the Irishman for the generous donation, but now it seems Conor never even paid the said money. "That's a fun prediction! @TheNotoriousMMA you also predicted a donation to my foundation and you and your team stopped responding after the fight in January.
See you soon."
July 10th Paid In Full!" Poirier wrote on Twitter and added: "We thanked him because his team reached out fight week to initiate the process but ghosted us the past 2 months after the fight.
My foundation has reached out 3 times since with no reply. We've moved past it! We will be announcing our next goal soon! Its a big one" He didn't have to wait long for an answer. "A donation, not a debt. We’ve been awaiting the plans for the money that never came.
I do with all my donations. Know where it’s going dot for dot. Otherwise it goes walking. As is the case with a lot of these foundations, sadly. You took the McG over the belt shows I was right", the former champion answered explaining his part of the story.
And then Dustin answered again: "100% never a debt. You offered, we accepted, and like I said your Team never responded to our emails regarding the process of where funds would be put to work! July 10th you will taste defeat yet Again" said Poirier.
If all goes according to plan, McGregor and Poirier will do the trilogy at UFC 264. Poirier seems to be quite furious about McGregor and his false promises regarding the donation. That will be an additional motivation for him to win and we have no doubt that Poirier will provide a great fight anyway and try to beat McGregor again.
McGregor will probably prepare in a different way and it looks like he will start again with his old method, which is "trash talk" " It will certainly be interesting to follow the war between them on social networks
