Dustin Poirier’s wish to fight at UFC 300 will unfortunately remain to be just a wish as he has been asked to fight at UFC 299 (9th March) against the rising lightweight contender Benoit Saint-Denis. Don’t fall for the name; when it comes to his fighting style, he is the opposite of a ‘saint’.

It is worth knowing that Benoit Saint-Denis claimed victories in his entire career by either submitting or knocking out his opponent! Joe Rogan has watched Benoit Saint-Denis fight, and based on his analysis, he wants Poirier to be prepared for what’s coming.

Saint-Denis can turn out to be a serious threat; Poirier will be coming out of a loss against Justin Gaethje. A win for Saint-Denis will be huge, and it will allow him to compete against other top lightweight contenders. Who knows, a win could even seal his spot to fight for the BMF belt.

On the flipside, a win for Poirier could lead to a potential trilogy with Justin Gaethje, even if Gaethje loses against Max Holloway.

Joe Rogan on Benoit Saint-Denis

In a recent episode of Fight Companion, Joe Rogan shared his thoughts on Dustin Poirier vs Benoit Saint-Denis and explained why Poirier should be ready.

“This is the big fight, Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint-Denis,” Rogan said, as quoted by“That’s the big fight. That Saint-Denis guy is a * killer. He’s such a killer, that guy’s such a scary guy.

I’m telling you, that Benoit Saint-Denis is next level, he’s got furnaces going in his eyes. You look into that guy’s eyes, there’s hell going on behind those eyes. He’s built for it. So, him vs. Dustin is very exciting, and Dustin better be ready to go. You better be ready to go with that guy, because he’s going to try and make a name off of him”.
