Bisping: If I were Miocic's coach, I would slap him because he wants to fight Aspinal

The fight between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones would certainly be historic and there is no place for Aspinall

Stipe Miocic, former UFC heavyweight champion, stands at a crossroads. Almost three years since his last fight, a brutal knockout by Francis Ngannou, whispers of retirement and missed opportunities have not stopped. Jon Jones, the legend of the light heavyweight category and now the champion of the heavyweight category, also has problems with injuries and is still waiting for his return.

A rivalry that has been in the making for years, Miocic vs. Jones promises a great match that can make Miocic go down in history but also end Jones' incredible streak. Tom Aspinall is definitely a rising prospect, hungry and confident.

His name, however, caused controversy. Should Miocic, instead of facing Jones, accept a match with Aspinall so that the winner of that match goes into the octagon against Jon Jones. Aspinall said the other day that he was offered to Stipe and that he turned it down because he wanted a fight exclusively against Jon Jones.

Michael Bisping, who had quite interesting claims, agrees with that. "The man is eight months into his 42nd year and hasn't fought since Francis Ngannou knocked him out almost three years ago. In those three years, let's be honest, you fall, you grow old.

Yes, if you decided to fight Tom Aspinall everyone would praise you, but what's the risk? Well, you risk fighting Jon Jones,'' Bisping said on his YouTube channel. "I'm a fan of Tom Aspinall, but if I were Stipe's manager and Stipe looked even remotely interested in that match, I'd slap him in the face.

I would ask him what is wrong with him. Fighters often need to be protected from themselves, and if Stipe had talked about it, it wouldn't have made any business sense,'' he added. In the end, the decision rests with Miocic.

He already refused the match against Aspinall once, but we will not be surprised if the UFC management tries to organize this match once again. The heavyweight division awaits its fate, but nothing will be decided until the champion and greatest legend of this sport, Jon Jones, returns.
