Aljamain Sterling will make his featherweight debut in the historic UFC 300 event against Calvin Kattar. Sterling has no intentions of getting hurt; he wants to save his striking game and unleash his dominance in grappling.

Aljamain Sterling wants a submission victory; the goal is far from easy because Calvin Kattar hasn’t been submitted that many times in his career; Calvin Kattor has participated in 30 matches in his professional career, and it is worth knowing that he has only been submitted once from those 30 matches.

It will be interesting to see if Aljamain Sterling can become the 2nd opponent to give Calvin Kattar a submission defeat.

Aljamain Sterling on fighting Calvin Kattar

In a recent YouTube video, Aljamain Sterling explained in what way in looks forward to claiming a win.

“I feel like it could be first or second round if it were to get to that position,” Sterling said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “But honestly, I’m not going to go hunting for a takedown right out of the gate.

I kind of want to get my feet wet a little bit, kind of like how (Deiveson Figueiredo) did. Just feel the power, feel the pushback, and then kind of go from there. Just feel the fight – let the fight come to me and not rush it.

Do what I normally used to do – take my time and just see what comes to me, vs. trying to push the action to go on vacation. Now I’m out of vacation mode. I’m ready to scrap. I’m ready to compete. I got a burnout break, so I just feel like I have a fresh lease on my career”.

Calvin Kattar is currently on a two-match losing streak. He really needs to break out of it if claiming a title fight still matters to him.
