Conor McGregor promised to reveal his opponent and comeback date on New Year’s and he fulfilled his commitment. McGregor was expected to show up for UFC 300 in April, but he will now show up for a different event.

Conor McGregor is going to face Michael Chandler on 29th June!

As far as the weight class is concerned, McGregor said he would face Chandler at 185, but his tone seemed to be quite sarcastic. Daniel Cormier believes it will happen at 185 but is against the idea. The fight may happen at 155 pounds, if not at 185 pounds.

The good news for all fans is that the wait will finally come to an end on 29th June.

Daniel Cormier on McGregor vs Chandler

In a recent YouTube video, Daniel Cormier explained why Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler does not make sense at 185 pounds.

“It’s happening at 185,” Cormier said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “It shouldn’t happen there. I agree that it doesn’t have the meaning that it should have (at lightweight). But I still believe it does because I believe that Conor McGregor is just going to make Michael Chandler do whatever he wants.

And if that means fighting at a weight class he’s never fought at, that he doesn’t feel comfortable at, that’s what he’s going to do because he feels like it’s going to be in his favor. I think this is a game.

I think Conor McGregor is the puppetmaster, and I think Michael Chandler is being far too easy to play with,” Cormier said. “At this point, Michael Chandler is Pinocchio. Conor McGregor’s doing stuff like (pulling puppet strings) with Michael Chandler and I don’t like it because I like Michael Chandler. But I think he’s doing too much”.
