Khamzat Chimaev has been successful in attracting a large fan base because of his explosive performances and character. However, after his recent match against Kamaru Usman, many fans and MMA experts were disappointed because they expected more action and labelled Usman vs Chimaev an ‘underwhelming’ fight.

UFC analyst Josh Thompson is one of those who cannot see Khamzat Chimaev's growing potential.

Regardless of the thoughts and opinions of people, Chimaev remains to be victorious with a clean record of 13-0. He has been tested against note-worthy opponents, and it will be very interesting to see how soon he can claim a title shot.

Josh Thompson on Khamzat Chimaev

Recently on the Weighing In Podcast, Josh Thompson shared his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev and explained how he cannot see him living up the hype. “I said this the last time I saw him fight: I’m not sold on him yet,” Thomson said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I’m not sold on Khamzat Chimaev.

Everyone’s like, ‘You’re stupid, you’re being a hater.’ I’m like, ‘No, I don’t care what you guys say.’ I’ve been in the fight game a long, long time. Fighters come, fighters go.

They explode onto the scene and guess what? Then they linger around for a little bit hoping to get back on track, and some of them never do, and some have a resurgence.

Josh Thompson on Charles Oliveira

“Charles Oliveira is one of the guys that had a resurgence.

A lot of guys before in the past never did. Melvin Guillard never did. He came on like fireworks and just kind of fizzled out and faded away, and I don’t even know where he’s at now. That’s no knock on him, That happens to a lot of fighters.

I’m just using him as an example”.
