The welterweight battle between Stephen Thompson and Shavkat Rakhmonov ended in favor of Rakhmonov, who was successful in securing a 2nd round submission win. Thompson was very confident of victory, but to his disappointment, he failed to match up to his expectations; he claims to have broken his foot after he kicked Rakmonov’s elbow; apart from that, he is doing just fine.

Stephen Thompson is in positive spirits and recognizes where he went wrong.

Shavkat Rakhmonov will propel seamlessly in the competitive welterweight division, while Stephen Thomspon will have to struggle a little more to make his way to the top. Rakhmonov is crystal clear about what he wants next. He is behind the title fight, and it would be fair to assume that he is just 1-2 significant wins away from claiming his desired opportunity.

In a recent YouTube video, Stephen Thompson reflected on his recent loss and getting submitted. “I appreciate all of your support after the fight this past Saturday,” Thompson said, as quoted by

“It obviously didn’t go the way I wanted it to go, and that’s why you should always follow the plan, guys. I didn’t follow the plan. That’s my fault. Anyway, I love you guys, and I’ll be back stronger and better than ever.

I have some things to work on and get this foot healed up, and we’ll get after it again.
