Colby Covington's latest foray into pre-fight trash talk has hit hard, drawing widespread criticism for its insensitive and disrespectful nature. In a press conference Thursday night, Covington took a jab at Leon Edwards that many believe crossed the line, referencing Edwards' deceased father and his past involvement in crime.

"I'm going to take you to the seventh circle of hell, we're going to say hello to your dad," Covington said, drawing immediate outrage. While Covington's history of provocative antics is well documented, this particular comment struck a nerve, given Edwards' personal tragedy of losing his father at a young age.

The MMA community largely condemned Covington's remarks, calling them insensitive and disrespectful. Many point out that exploiting a personal tragedy for pre-fight hype is a weak shot, regardless of the ongoing rivalry between the two fighters.

"There's a line you don't cross in this game," said Paddy Pimblett, a fellow UFC fighter who was present at the press conference.

Edwards, understandably, reacted angrily, throwing a water bottle at Covington before security intervened.

Although the incident was quickly contained, it highlights the emotional intensity surrounding the impending fight. Pimblett fiercely criticized "bad boy" Covington: "That was far too much, I wanted to jump up and hit him on the head.

I felt like punching him, because he was definitely overdoing it. You can't talk about someone's father like that. If someone had said something like that about my grandmother, I would have jumped up and punched him in the face.'

', Paddy began during the UFC's 'Weigh-in show', and then expressed his support for Leon Edwards. "Leon rightly had to be detained by security. I hope he brutally knocks out Covington. I wish they would send him to dreamland. I think Edwards will be thinking about his father and will brutally knock Colby out.

I don't see how Colby can last five rounds with him. I know Colby is fit and has good takedowns. I know MMA math doesn't work, but if Usman couldn't knock Edwards down, and Colby couldn't knock Usman down, then he won't be able to knock Edwards down either. My guess is that Edwards will beat him for three rounds and then knock him out.' ', is Paddy Pimblett's forecast.
