The upcoming UFC middleweight title fight promises to be a tough fight as both fighters are very skilful; Sean Strickland’s coach, Erick Nicksick believes ‘pace’ will play a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the match.

Strickland has to capture moments of dominance and momentum from the beginning of the first round. Dricus Du Plessis is confident of claiming a victory; the fight is almost one month away (20th January, 2024). Some fans were shocked to see Du Plessis announced as the title challenger, as Dana White said the winner of Khamzat Chimaev vs Kamaru Usman would be next for the title fight.

Recently in an interview with Inside Fighting, Erick Nicksick explained how ‘pace’ will allow Sean Strickland to win the match against Dricus Du Plessis.

“I think it’s going to be a matter of setting a precedent on the pace,” Nicksick said, as quoted by “I feel like Dricus is going to come out hard, heavy and fast right away, and we’re going to have to manage that pace in the first couple of rounds.

Once Sean gets into the fight, I think that’s when Sean’s really going to be able to take over. I expect it to be a barnburner. Both of these guys are right where they belong”. Nicksick further said: I was always told by Randy (Couture) and something I always look at is the hardest fight of your career is your first title defense, It’s going to be up to us to make sure we’re on our Ps and Qs and go out there and defend this belt”.

Perhaps, Khamzat Chimaev will face the winner of the upcoming middleweight clash. Chimaev is ready to fight he may show up for a fight in the first quarter of 2024.
