Jaliton Almeida is on a steady rise, and it is worth knowing that he is undefeated in the UFC and is currently on a 6 match winning streak. Almeida recently faced Derrick Lewis and claimed a comprehensive win. Almeida has one name in mind; Ciryl Gane.

However, he does recognize that he may have to fight some other top contender before fighting Ciryl Gane. Almeida believes he will most likely have to face Tom Aspinall before reaching the top tier. Tom Aspinall is the UFC interim heavyweight champion; fans can expect him to defend his belt in the first quarter of 2024.

Tom Aspinall recently took the liberty of asking Jon Jones to vacate his heavyweight due to withdrawing from his recent fight against Stipe Miocic. As an obvious response, people criticized him for saying such a thing. The heavyweight divison continues to get interesting day by day and it will be fascinating to see who becomes the new champion after Jon Jones retires.

Jailton Almeida on fighting Tom Aspinall

In a recent interview hosted by stake.com, Jailton Almeida shared his thoughts on fighting Tom Aspinall and explained how Jon Jones will always be no.1. “Against Ciryl Gane would be ideal, but Tom Aspinall already spoke to the media or whoever and is already talking about a fight with Jailton,” Almeida said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com.

“So, I think probably the Tom Aspinall fight will come first. It will be a very good fight because Tom Aspinall is a complete fighter, He has really good movement. I see myself as an equal in the sense that it would be a good, fair fight.

It would be for the future of the category. It’s going to be the future fight for the title. Aspinall further said: “Jon Jones is still the best in the division, I believe Tom Aspinall could eventually get there, but for me, there is no doubt that Jon Jones is still No. 1”.
