Arman Tsarukyan has successfully positioned himself as a strong consideration for the next title shot after causing one of the greatest upsets of the year! Tsarukyan seamlessly knocked out Beneil Dariush in the very first round.

Interestingly, this knockout was faster than the one Charles Oliveira secured …… by 3 seconds!

As an obvious response to the sweet taste of a comprehensive win, Arman Tsarukyan took the liberty of calling out the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

Matchmakers have a tough task ahead; they have to select between Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira. Who knows, to decide the next title fight, challengers Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira may have to compete against each other, and the winner could qualify to square off against Islam Makhachev.

Beneil Dariush is on a daunting losing streak; he lost both of his matches via knockout in the very first round. It is undeniably a tough setback but it will be fascinating to see how well Dariush makes a comeback from here.

Arman Tsarukyan on what he want’s next

During a recent post-fight press conference, Arman Tsarukyan expressed eagerness to secure a title shot. “Sure, I was expecting (the knockout),” Tsarukyan said, as quoted by

“When they gave me the fight, I was thinking, ‘I have to knock him out in the first round and call out Islam and get a title fight. Charles (Oliveira) knocked him out, and if I won by decision, how am I going to fight for the title? But I knocked him out faster than Charles, and he didn’t take me down like he did with Charles.

I performed better than Charles. Charles already had the opportunity, so it’s my time right now. If they’re not going to give me a title shot, then we have to figure it out. But hopefully they give me a title fight and that’s it”.
