The year 2024 is already stacked with some of the best UFC title fights; more are expected to be added. The UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev looks forward to showing up 3 times next year – once before the holy month of Ramadan (9th March).

Makhachev will most likely defend his belt against Charles Oliveira next. Daniel Cormier believes the remaining two fights could end up happening with Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier.

“I’m planning to fight before Ramadan,” Makhachev said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com.

“I already informed the UFC that I’m ready to fight before Ramadan. I would like to have time to do three fights in 2024. I will train as much as possible, constantly keep in shape, and wait for a call from the management”.

In a recent YouTube video, Daniel Cormier shared his thoughts on Islam Makhachev’s potential fights. “What do those fights look like? Charles Oliveira first, we know that,” Cormier said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com.

“Dustin Poirier on one hand said he believes that if the Oliveira that fought him, that fought Gaethje, shows up to fight Makhachev, he thinks that Oliveira wins. But Say Makhachev gets it done in March (against Oliveira).

… Who would be second? Justin Gaethje. Gaethje has made his intentions clear: He’s going to wait (for a title shot). I know Justin. I spend a lot of time with Justin. Of all the most relevant lightweights that we have seen over the course of the last 10 years, he could fight Charles, Justin and Dustin all in a calendar year”.
