Khamzat Chimaev is rising steadily and is just one-two steps away from becoming the middleweight champion of the world. According to Chimaev, he is ready to fight anyone in any weight division; however, he has been given the impression of not accepting fights and simply hyping up situations.

Periera recently pleaded the same thing after Chimaev called him out to fight for the light heavyweight belt. Chimaev last fought against Kamaru Usman; he was expected to face Sean Strickland next; however, the UFC decided to make Dricus Du Plessis the title challenger as he earned his spot by securing a win against Robert Whittaker.

Alex Pereira already had a bad experience with Chimaev’s previous call out due to which he isn’t interested in entertaining a match with him.

Alex Pereira on Khamzat Chimaev calling him out

In a recent YouTube video, Alex Pereira reacted to Khamzat Chimaev calling him out for the second time and explained why he isn’t strongly interested.

“So actually, everything started after the Adesanya fight when I became the middleweight champion,” Pereira said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “It was a war with Adesanya. I was injured after the fight, and Chimaev directly called me out, wanted to fight against me, take my belt, and whatever.

Pereira further said: I said, ‘OK, that’s fine. Let’s fight at light heavyweight.’ He denied. He didn’t want to fight me at light heavyweight and afterwards, now I’m the champ at light heavyweight, and he calls me out at light heavyweight.

So, this only shows that these type of fighters are trying to run behind the hype and the fame of the champions, and it doesn’t make sense. Now I have to do what? Call him out at heavyweight or what? So, it doesn’t make sense”.
