The rise of Tom Aspinall has grabbed the interest of many, including the former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill. Aspinall recently claimed a terrific knockout win against Sergei Pavlovich and became the new UFC interim heavyweight champion of the world.
Aspinall will most probably defend his belt against a top contender in the early phase of next year, and it will be very interesting to see who the UFC decides to match him up against next.Hill’s injury will prevent him from fighting the first half of 2024; however, he is observant of noise made in UFC and recently revealed that he was impressed by Tom Aspinall’s skills as a fighter and looks forward to facing him in the future.
Aspinall is eagerly waiting to fight Jon Jones, and he might get the opportunity to fight Jon Jones if Jones considers extending his retirement plans.
Jamahal Hill on Tom Aspinall
In a recent interview with TNT Sport, Jamahal Hill shared his thoughts on Tom Apsinall as a fighter and explained why he wants to fight him in the future.
“I think Tom is a stud. I think Tom is like the new prototype of what heavyweights are,” Hill said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I definitely want to do my thing at 205 and go up and eventually see him too.
So, Tom, get ready for me, baby – someday. I think he has great movement. I think his coaches focus on a lot of good things, the right things to give him an edge in this game. A lot of them have the same philosophy as my coaches have and employ with me and things like that.
I think he’s definitely built the right way, the way fighters should be built. It’s exciting. I’m game. I’m always game. Any time I see somebody exciting or new, or they’re bringing something fresh to the cage, I want to test myself against that”.
