Joaquin Buckley scored his second straight win since returning to the light heavyweight division. He fought on the last Fight Night 229 in the main card against Alex Morono (23-9 MMA, 12-6 UFC) and had a very impressive performance, perhaps the best in his career so far.

It seems that the hard and strenuous training has paid off for this talented fighter. Buckely joined the UFC in 2020 and his debut was against Kevin Holland where he lost by stoppage in the second round. After this magnificent victory, he shared with the audience and journalists that now would be the right time to get a rematch with Kevin Holland.

“I think that would be big,” Buckley told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight news conference. “We’re always going back-and-forth, and it’s a friendly competition at the end of the day.

I like Kevin Holland’s personality, I like what he does in the octagon to promote himself, and if I’m able to get that win, it’s just going to show everybody that I have improved in this company”.

Hard training and great sacrifice paid off for Buckley in the end

This talented fighter is known for his devastating knockout power, most of his victories were by knockout.

He stated that he trained hard for this match, his physical strength, but mostly based on cardio training because that was the biggest problem for him in the previous part of his career. “That was the plan from the beginning, to show everybody that my conditioning, the hard work, has really pushed me to another level definitely when it comes to my conditioning,” Buckley said.

“I still want to finish these fights, but it is what it is. I’ve got to show the world we’re conditioned and if we’re going to the fourth and the fifth, it would probably be difficult for somebody to survive that”.
