The president of the UFC Dana White, reversed his decision of banning fighters from carrying their country flags. Dana White claims that the Noche UFC event changed his mind and pushed him to remove the ban, which means from now onwards, fighters can bring in their country flags without having to worry about anything.
White believes people are unnecessarily emotional about little things, he says that he is least concerned if unbanning the flags policy is going to hurt anyone. Most fighters bring in their country flags during weigh ins and ring walks; on some level, it plays a distinct role in boosting morale and motivation before heading into a fight; it also shows people the country being represented by fighters.
Dana White on reversing his decision
During the recent post fight press conference, Dana White explained what pushed him to unban flags. “Flags are back,” White said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I was on vacation during the Mexican Independence Day, and the no flag thing drove me crazy.
So I was like, ‘Yeah, **** that. We’re bringing flags back.’ It drove me crazy. There’s a lot of things that go on in a company this big, You can’t micromanage everything. Sometimes things are done for the intentions of the right reasons, or whatever.
White further said: Everybody in this room knows the way that I feel about a lot of things. Basically, ‘I don’t give a ****,’ is the answer to most things.Everybody’s too soft, everybody’s too sensitive about everything.
When the decision was made to do this, I was just like, ‘Eh, what’s the big deal if they don’t have flags?’ Mexican Independence Day flipped the switch and I was like, ‘That’s enough of the no flags thing.’ Flags are back. If any flags hurt your feelings, too ****** bad”.
