The lightweight clash between Grant Dawson and Bobby Green was lightning fast and explosive. Bobby Green secured one of the fastest knockout wins in the history of the UFC; one quick left hook is all it took Bobby Green to finish the 10th ranked lightweight contender Grant Dawson.
Green is on a terrific two match winning streak; after the recent win, he has successfully entered the lightweight rankings and is now the 10th ranked contender.BOBBY GREEN OH MY GOODNESS ? #UFCVegas80 pic.twitter.com/RLr2Ui7ch3 — ESPN MMA (@espnmma) October 8, 2023
Renato Moicano called out Bobby Green after watching the knockout; in response, Green said he would fight anyone the UFC puts in front of him.
Bobby Green’s post fight interview
During the post-fight press conference, Bobby Green shared his thoughts on the spectacular win and revealed who his team wants him to fight next.
“He was trying to make me feel like, ‘I’m going to hit you!’. OK, interesting,” Green said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “But I didn’t expect him to go down. I didn’t feel like I hit him that hard, but my coach said, ‘You don’t have to hit anybody hard, you’ve just got to put the shot there’.
I thought we were going to be having a grueling fight, people think you can just take me down. [They think], ‘I’m going to grab him, and I’m just going to take him down.’ My wrestling’s good kid.
My wrestling’s really good. Since I have that stupid taste in my mouth with that one fight that I did [against Islam Makhachev], everybody assumes you can’t wrestle. So I wanted to be able to show that part of it.
Green on what could be next: That we came well prepared. My coach has been putting names in my ear, they said [Dan] Hooker. They want me to fight Hooker. I’m like OK, if this Hooker’s down, I’m down. I’m even down to headline the prelims”.
