Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is by no means calming his passions because his contract with the UFC has not been extended. Now he wants to somehow get a chance to fight Jon Jones, the current heavyweight champion in the UFC.
He adds that he wanted that fight before, but his wish was not granted. Now it will be a little difficult because the dangerous Frenchman is no longer in the UFC and is fighting for another promotion called PFL. “It’s possible, but they have to go to the PFL now,” Ngannou said on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
“The PFL is down for that”. “I don’t know, maybe it’ll be a special fight – a special belt or something, maybe not like a UFC belt,” Ngannou said. “To be honest, I don’t worry about the title.
The title is not what I worry about. I worry about that fight, that challenge."as quoted by MMAJunkie
Francis Ngannou is not interested in the belt, he just wants to beat the best of the best
Francis Ngannou emphasized once again that the fight would have to be in the PFL and that he has accurate information that the PFL would accept to hold that fight.
However, now it's up to the UFC, although the Frenchman has emphasized several times that he does not want a title fight, the very fact that he would beat Jon Jones would be equal to the belt. We have to agree with the Frenchman that it would be an interesting fight and that he has dangerous weapons in his hands, but let's remember that for years fighters have been coming forward promising to defeat the current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“I wouldn’t care if it was a fight without a title. In my mind, I don’t need a UFC title. That fight is bigger than a title. The fight is bigger than a title. Deep inside me, I still have a little bit of hope, even though I know it’s going to be hard. But, you never know”.
