Alexander Volkanovski wants to fight Islam Makhachev for the rematch at UFC 300

The featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski wants to be featured in the iconic UFC 300 event; he wishes to have a rematch with Islam Makhachev. It’s going to be a tough task for matchmakers to announce match ups as the UFC is filled with talented fighters and intense rivalries.

Makhachev will be appearing for his 2nd title defense against Charles Oliveira, the winner of that match could possibly fight Volkanovski. It would be fair to assume that the UFC 300 event will have title fights. Adesanya wants to be featured in that card, and now Volkanovski expressed his inclination to be featured.

Hopefully, by December, we will find out the fighters that will fight in the UFC 300 card.

Alexander Volkanovski on UFC 300

In a recent interview, Alexander Volkanovski spoke about his future fights and being featured in the UFC 300 card.

“You got the Ilia fight that’s always going to be there,” Volkanovski said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “You got that rematch that I want (vs. Makhachev). I want to be active. Obviously, Islam and Charles (Oliveira) are going at it soon, so I don’t want to be waiting around.

So, I’ll do early next year, I think. I wanted this year, but I think the schedule is just not going to be able to fit me in. I think there’s a few champions that need to be fighting, which is fair, but I would’ve been happy to get one in this year.

I think that makes a lot of sense, yeah, for sure. I think that would be great, especially with me getting my hand raised on that one for UFC 300 would be perfect, but again, we will see what we can do. Volkanovski further said: But I think that’s one of the bigger fights that you can make.

I truly do believe that. A lot of people want to see that again. It was very, very competitive, and I guarantee you I get it done next time”.
