The former UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal recently expressed his inclination to come out of retirement and fight again. Masvidal wants Justin Gaethje to defend the recently earned BMF belt against him. Gaethje seems to have other goals in his mind; he was never strongly enthusiastic about the BMF belt; he wants to fight for the real belt, the UFC lightweight belt that is currently under the possession of Islam Makhachev.
Justin Gaethje believes his recent performance has gotten him one step closer towards getting the title shot. If Islam Makhachev successfully defends his belt against Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje could definitely be in line next.
Gaethje faced an embarrassing loss against Charles Oliveira; he was submitted in the very first round. You can watch the submission below:

Justin Gaethje on fighting Jorge Masvidal
During a recent Q&A session, Justin Gaethje shared his thoughts on defending the BMF belt against Jorge Masvidal.
Gaethje firmly believes he’s next for the lightweight title fight.“Sounds fun,” Gaethje said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “But I have one goal, it’s the undisputed championship. I have plenty of time after that to fight those fights.
I don’t think [Masvidal is] ever coming back. He looks like he weighs 240 pounds. I fight at 155 pounds, I’m sure he’d want to fight at 170. I guess I prefer Oliveira, but I really do think Makhachev’s going to win and I’m very excited about the new challenge, absolutely, I think Volkanovski had his chance and I think if I didn’t finish Dustin the way I did, then he’d have a better argument because he gave Makhachev such a good fight, but the fact that I knocked out Dustin Poirier, the No.
2 guy in the world, got the BMF title, there’s no doubt I’m next in line for the fight”.
