Cyril Gane admitted that he felt a lot of pressure in yesterday's match in Paris at UFC Fight Night 226 where he fought Serghei Spivac (16-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC). He has received a lot of criticism lately, especially after his loss to current heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

It seems that the crowd has never been more vocal against him than before this fight in Paris. Surely that also influenced him to train as hard as possible and to prepare better for this match. He needed a win to restore his lost confidence.

Cyril Gane: I was a little bit afraid, a little bit pressured. You want to do well

“I’m not going to lie: I’ve got the pressure, and I want to do well,” Gane told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at a post-fight news conference.

“This is not a game of basketball or soccer. That’s different. Just that, you have some emotion that’s really different. (I was) a little bit afraid, a little bit pressured. You want to do well”. “That was my mission: to shine tonight because I want to go back to the belt,” Gane said.

“This is my race, and I want to do that, yeah”. as quoted by MMAJunkie.

At the beginning of the fight in the first round there were interesting moments, it seemed that the referee's decision would decide.

However, in the second round, he defeated Ghana by TKO and thus shut the mouths of all critics and gave himself a wind at his back for the next matches. Gane said that he wanted to make the match as good as possible for the crowd and in the end he won.

We have to agree that the match was really as good as it lasted. “This is a new era for the heavyweight division, and you have some big movement,” Gane said. “We were waiting for a big title fight with two GOATs.

Maybe they’re going to retire. So for me, a good way is to go back. It was my mission tonight to shine and prove I’m still here, and I want to go back to the belt. We will see. We will see for the moment”.
