The middleweight contender Nassourdine Imavov fought Sean Strickland in January this year and faced a tough unanimous decision loss. Based on his personal experience, he tried predicting the upcoming middleweight title fight and explained under what conditions Strickland could emerge victoriously.
Sean Strickland is the underdog for this event. It does look like he’s being underestimated heavily, and it will be interesting to see if Strickland can prove the doubters wrong. Nassourdine Imavov will be fighting against Ikram Aliskerov on October 22nd; a comprehensive win could get him a rematch with Sean Strickland, which could subsequently lead to a title shot.
Imavov is currently ranked 12th in the competitive middleweight division, and a few wins from here could land him in the top deck.
Nassourdine Imavov on Adesanya vs Strickland
During a recent Q&A session, Nassourdine Imavov shared his thoughts on the upcoming title fight and predicted the outcome.
He also talks about fighting his next opponent, Ikram Aliskerov. “I don’t think it’s going to be very easy for him,” Imavov said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I think it’s going to be a really complicated fight.
What I will say is that Strickland is a really annoying guy to fight against. “And the longer the fight goes, if it goes five rounds, it could actually work to Strickland’s favor. However, I don’t think he’s going to win.
Imamov further said: I think he’s going to come back down the rankings, and I think I’m going to get my shot at a rematch in the future. Ikram is an excellent fighter, If I’m not mistaken, his record is 14-1.
A lot of people consider him to be the future going forwards. It’s a massive challenge for me but you know what? That’s what I want, challenges. So, I’m really pleased and that’s what I look forward to in the future of my career”.
