The UFC 292 main event was a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley. A normal spectator would expect the event to be of massive success from the business and PPV standpoint, but Henry Cejudo recently revealed that the UFC 292 event sold roughly around 300k -350k pay-per-view buys which is quite less for a title fight.

Cejudo got these numbers from an inside source who is a ‘friend’ of his. From the entertainment standpoint, the event was beyond entertaining each fight in the card had something special about it. Sean O’Malley becoming the bantamweight champion was one of the most iconic moments of the year, and it will be fascinating to see who he defends his belt against.

Henry Cejudo on UFC 292 PPV numbers

Henry Cejudo, in a recent YouTube video, spoke about the scalability of UFC 292 and the number of PPV buys reported. “Guess what, guys, I have friends at ESPN. I’m not gonna say who but Sean O’Malley [vs.

Sterling] did anywhere between 300,000 to 350,000 [PPV buys],” Cejudo said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “That’s it. That’s all Sean O’Malley made in pay-per-view buys. Is 350,000 pay-per-view buys — is that a surplus or is that down? The other guy who will probably more likely know is Aljamain Sterling.

“Everyone was projecting that this event was one of the biggest of the year. It’s not true. So, my question is to Sean O’Malley: Do you have that sauce to sell, to be a pay-per-view superstar? Yeah, you just won the belt but you would imagine you’re fighting in Boston against a current champ who has gone down and got wins over legends, how big is the name of Sean O’Malley? Yeah, does he have a following through Instagram? 100 percent.

Cejudo further said: But can he sell pay-per-views? I would insert my name in the hat to fight Sean, especially with the fact that we’re both from the same city, our gyms are rivals ... You’d figure that would be a storyline because they don’t want to give Merab [a title shot]”.
