UFC 292: Alexander Volkanovski predicts Aljamain Sterling vs Sean O’Malley

The featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will be tuning in for the upcoming bantamweight title defense and can foresee Aljamain Sterling successfully defending his belt against Sean O’Malley. Volkanovski is absolutely right about ‘momentum’ playing a role in determining who wins the match.

Sterling has been winning consistently since 2018, and chances are very high for him to extend the fabulous winning streak. O’Malley has never secured a submission win which somewhat indicates that he doesn’t rely much on grappling.

However, Sterling has a few submission wins and can fulfil both duties as a fighter and can undoubtedly take advantage and dominate against O’Malley. The recent face-off between the two was intense, and they will next have a face off during the weigh ins.

Alexander Volkanovski’s thoughts on Sterling vs O’Malley

Alexander Volkanovski recently shared his predictions for Sterling vs O’Malley and justified his choice with valid reasoning. “I’m leaning towards Aljamain because I just think that that wrestling and that control, it’s going to eventually get there,” Volkanovski said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com.

“You know how sometimes you just watch someone’s story and it’s just like something is meant to be? Then you got Aljamain talking about definitely moving up after this. A part of the story is does he lose and he was moving up anyway and Sean O’Malley, this whole rise that he’s done, becoming champion, massive superstar for the UFC.

It could be – it feels likes sort of something that could happen. Beating Petr Yan? “You know when some people just have that momentum, and it’s just meant to be and it happens? I’m a believer of that sometimes, man, I really am.

Volkanovski further said: I feel like it could definitely be a TKO for Sean O’Malley because his striking is that good, but I will lean towards Aljamain, I think he has got a safer way to victory. More percentage-wise, I’m always going to go there, but it could definitely happen for Sean O’Malley".
