The highly-anticipated bantamweight clash between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov is officially off because Nurmagomedov had to pull out due to a shoulder injury. However, the good news is that the UFC has found Cory Sandhagen, a new opponent, and it is none other than Rob Font.

Both fighters will be fighting on the same date 5th August Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Rob Font seems to be looking forward to this short-notice call out, and it will be very interesting to see who ends up emerging victoriously this Saturday night.

Both fighters are tremendous strikers, and this is a fantastic opportunity for Rob Font to climb the competitive ladder and enter the top 5 rankings – he is just one win away from making that happen.

Rob Font on fighting Cory Sandhagen

Rob Font recently spoke about fighting Cory Sandhgen in great detail and also spoke about his goals after his next match.

“He’s a man,” Font said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I ran into him yesterday. He seems mad cool. He’s real chill. He’s a good dude. Yeah, those are the end of the nice words there. One hundred percent, (it’s better to fight a higher ranked opponent).

This is going to be a tricky fight. He has great footwork. He throws lots of kicks. He mixes in the wrestling world. When he gets on top, he’s dangerous. So it’s more of like just getting in there and doing what I want to do – get him on the back foot.

Font further said: Let him feel the power. Let him feel the length. I think he’s going to be surprised once we start grappling of how strong and solid I am when it comes to grappling. It’s hard to get Cory out of there.

He’s fought all the top guys, and it’s not easy to get him out of there. Getting in there, knocking him out, getting that bonus, getting my hand raised and getting that title shot – that’s obviously the end goal.
