No one would ever dismiss the opportunity to fight the notorious Conor McGregor; however, Justin Gaethje isn’t really interested in fighting him because of McGregor’s ongoing situation with the USADA – he recognizes how massive of an event it can turn out to be, but apparently McGregor turned down to fight Justin Gaethje in the past.

The talks for a fight between Justin Gaethje and Conor McGregor emerged because of McGregor’s tweet as he called out Gaethje to fight. A few days ago, McGregor’s manager said that Conor will most likely make his return in 2024.

Gaethje is the next potential title challenger after claiming a fantastic 2nd round knockout win against Dustin Poirier, and it will be interesting to see if he entertains a match with Conor McGregor.

Justin Gaethje’s thoughts on McGregor’s call out

In a recent post-fight press conference, Justin Gaethje shared his thoughts on fighting Conor McGregor and, in great detail, explained why he wouldn’t do it.

“I think he’s turned me down six times,” Gaethje said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “Usually, you have to lose to fight him. So I’m not sure what’s going on. … I fight in MMA.

I like to fight big fights. I like exciting things. It sounds pretty exciting to me. I’m not going to fight someone on steroids. I’ve never taken steroids in my life and never will. Well, maybe when I retire, I might.

But I’ve never taken steroids in my life and I don’t want to fight someone who is cheating. I probably shouldn’t even say that if I want the fight, but it’s the truth”. Gaethje on having a trilogy fight with Poirier: “We’ll see, man, the UFC (are) the guys who make the calls.

So we’ll see what happens. I have no idea. In the cage after the fight, I said, ‘Hey man, let’s both agree to never fight each other again, unless you have to have it. Then, I’m here.’ We’re 1-1, so we’ll see”.
