UFC 254: Nurmagomedov defeats Gaethje and retires after that

The very attractive UFC 254 event brought us a handful of great moves, but it will definitely be the most talked about new victory of the most dominant fighter of today - Khabib Nurmagomedov. The undefeated Dagestani recorded his 29th professional victory from the same number of appearances on Yas Island on Saturday (a very important number so far), and had to stop Justin Gaethje for his third lightweight title defense.

Many believed that the 31-year-old American could be the most difficult exam in Khabib's career, but Nurmagomedov successfully solved this task as well. In the first round, Gaethje still threatened, but the pressure from Khabib was incredible.

Justin tried with 'low kicks', he successfully stopped one crash and hit Nurmagomedov seriously several times, but the champion did not stop and 40 seconds before the end of the first round he moved the fight to the ground and immediately attacked with a lever in his hand, but there was not enough time.

But what he didn’t get in the first, Khabib did in the second round. The pressing was still amazing. Gaethje was bleeding from his nose, and after a minute the Dagestani knocked down his opponent, immediately caught the 'full mount', attacked the triangle by suffocation and sent the American to sleep.

Shortly after the fight ended, Khabib announced the end of his career.

Alexander Volkov

Alexander Volkov justified his role as the favorite and stopped Walt Harris in the second round by technical knockout. Already after the first five minutes, it could be seen that this match is slowly going more in the hands of the Russian veteran.

The American was already shaken in the last minute of the first section, and he entered the continuation of the fight as a visibly exhausted fighter. The crucial moment happened once when Volkov injured his opponent with a 'front kick' in the body, and then concluded the job in the Flash Forum with a few blows.

'Drago', let us mention, registered its 32nd victory on Saturday, but also celebrated its 32nd birthday. We have been waiting for a long time for Magomed Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba to meet again in the Octagon. The break-up of that first meeting in February was quite controversial, but this time no doubts remained.

In the last minute of the introductory round, the Dagestani fighter brutally put the Moldavian to sleep, and shortly before that he was knocked down, thus actually announcing a very amazing and a very big victory.
