Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a city in the United States and the county seat of the county of the same name in the state of California. With 4,041,707 inhabitants it is the largest city in the state of California, in the western United States and the second most populous in the country after New York. Founded by the Spaniards as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina Virgen de los Ángeles del Río de la Porciúncula de Asís, or The Village of Our Lady the Virgin Queen of the Angels of the Porziuncola River of Assisi, it rose to city status on June 9 1850, five months before California became the thirtieth state of the Union. An economic and scientific center of international importance, it is also the world capital of the film industry, in particular one of the most famous suburbs of the city, namely the famous Hollywood. Numerous American and international cinema and entertainment personalities live in and around Los Angeles, not only due to the international importance of the city, but also thanks to the luxurious nearby seaside resorts.
