Nikola Jokic is a Serbian basketball player who currently plays center for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. Born on February 19, 1995 in Sombor, Serbia, Jokic was selected as the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He quickly proved himself to be one of the most promising players of his generation. On May 22, 2021, Jokic became the third player in Denver Nuggets history to win the NBA MVP award. He was the first Serbian to win this prestigious title. Over the course of the season, Jokic put up amazing numbers, averaging 26.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. In addition to his exceptional skills on the court, Jokic is also known for his affable personality and humor. He is often described as a loyal and generous team player, who gives his all for his teammates.
Jokic is considered among the best big men in basketball history. Selected by the Nuggets with the 41st pick in 2014, Jokic won the NBA Most Valuable Player award for two consecutive seasons (2020-21 and 2021-22), becoming the first player chosen in the second round of the draft to do so. In the 2023 playoffs, after winning the Conference title and being elected best player of the series, Jokić confirmed himself in the final by winning his first NBA title and the Finals MVP award, to the detriment of the Miami Heat.
