Tyson Fury has been the holder of the WBC heavyweight world title since 2020, as well as the linear champion of the category since 2015. Between February 2020 and August 2022 he also held The Ring title, an award he already held between 2015 and 2018. 2015-2016 he was also world champion of the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO federations.

As an amateur he represented both England and Ireland, having been born in Manchester into a pavee family. In 2008, he won the ABA super heavyweight title before making his pro debut at age 20. After capturing the English title on two occasions, he became British and Commonwealth champion in 2011 by defeating Dereck Chisora. By beating Chisora again in their rematch three years later, he claimed the European and WBO International heavyweight titles instead. With a streak of 24 wins and no losses behind him, in November 2015 he faced and defeated the reigning champion Volodymyr Klycko, stripping him of the WBA, WBO IBF, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles and ending his 11-year unbeaten streak.

Following personal problems and a lengthy doping ban by the British Anti-Doping Agency, he was stripped of his world titles and observed nearly three years of inactivity, making his return to the ring in June 2018. In February 2020 he captured the WBC world title by dethroning champion Deontay Wilder, with whom he tied 14 months earlier, then going on to defend the belt against the American in their third and final match in October 2021. In 2022 he defends the title again, first against Dillian Whyte and then with Dereck Chisora. By virtue of the results achieved, since December 2020 he is considered the best heavyweight in activity according to ESPN, TBRB and BoxRec.
