Erik ten Hag is a former Dutch soccer player and he is currently managing the football club Manchester United. Born on February 2, 1970 in Haaksbergen, the Netherlands, Ten Hag had a rather modest footballing career, playing mainly as a defender for clubs such as FC Twente and De Graafschap. However, it is as a coach that Ten Hag has truly shined. After finishing his playing career in 2002, Ten Hag began coaching the youth teams of the KNVB, the Dutch football association. He then coached teams such as Go Ahead Eagles and Bayern Munich II, before becoming Utrecht's manager in 2015. During his time at Utrecht, Ten Hag guided the club to qualification for the Europa League and attracted the attracted the attention of clubs around the world with his attacking and engaging style of play.
