Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim Ducks are an NHL ice hockey team based in Anaheim. Founded in 1993, the company was owned by Walt Disney. The name was taken from the film The Mighty Ducks, which told the story of a hockey team made up of kids.

In 2005, Broadcom co-founder Henry Samueli and his wife Susan bought the company from Disney for about $75 million. The Samuelis immediately promised to keep the company headquarters in Anaheim.

In January 2006 the owners announced they wanted to change the team's name and uniform. This change became effective on June 22 of the same year. The Samuelis, at the request of many fans of the team, decided to keep the same mascot, Wildwing, as a sign of continuity with the past, also given the good results obtained in recent years.
