Leif Shiras on Nick Kyrgios' future: "It will be difficult"

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios reached his first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon. A great tournament and proof that grass is the most appropriate surface for the bizarre Australian talent. It must be said that Nick was able to take advantage of important absences in the tournament, such as those of the world number one Daniil Medvedev, to Matteo Berrettini (positive at Covid at the beginning of the tournament) and finally to Rafa Nadal, who retired in the semifinals just before challenging Kyrgios.
Genius and recklessness several times Kyrgios has been criticized for an excessive attitude on the field but in this 2022 things have changed. Among other things, Kyrgios also won the Australian Open, paired with his great friend Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Shiras on Nick Kyrgios' situation
Former American tennis player Leif Shiras said he was optimistic that Nick Kyrgios could also return on another occasion in a Grand Slam final. In an interesting interview with Kamau Murray, Shiras made the following statements: "I think Nick has the talent to reach another Grand Slam final.
Of course, it will be difficult to catch another tournament with this scoreboard and one Slam without stars who withdraw or who cannot participate in the tournament." Shiras then went on to clarify his thoughts: "I think Nick can remember, in some ways, John McEnroe of my time.
John too was blessed with a great talent but you always wondered if his character and temperament could disturb his. ascent and his best tennis. I'm not sure though if Kyrgios has a chance to reach John's level. At the same time, I think he can get another Grand Slam final, maybe I am thinking of the US Open, given the surface suitable for his game." Despite Shiraf's prediction, the US Open is not a very popular tournament for Kyrgios and during his career Nick has never made it through the third round in New York.
