In a long interview with Tennis Majors, Goran Ivanisevic analyzed Novak Djokovic's chances at the Championships. Ivanisevic said: "Novak Djokovic will be the main favorite at Wimbledon, as was Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros.
Novak just needs to rest well and prepare physically and mentally for Wimbledon. He has all the credentials to win the title, I have excellent feelings. We have to focus on this now." Goran flaunts a certain optimism: "The fundamental thing for Nole is to recover mentally.
As I've said in the past, Djokovic's mentality is different than most of us. Even though he needs less time than the others to get back to 100%, he now needs to recharge his batteries. He has overcome painful defeats in the past and I am sure he will arrive in London in the best conditions."
Novak Djokovic's season
The Serbian could only have Wimbledon available to increase his showcase, given that he will hardly be able to fly to New York to compete in the US Open. Novak is not expected to play any tournaments before the third Slam of the season.
Novak Djokovic was not very satisfied with Roland Garros 2022. The world number 1 was considered the big favorite for the victory after the success in Rome, but he was unable to defend the title he won in Paris last year. His run was interrupted in the quarters against his eternal rival Rafael Nadal, who won in four sets avenging the defeat he suffered in 2021.
The Serbian phenomenon paid dearly for a nightmare start and numerous ups and downs during the challenge, which prevented him from bringing the dispute to the fifth. As if that weren't enough, Nole had to helplessly watch Nadal's umpteenth triumph at Porte d'Auteuil.
The 36-year-old Spaniard has therefore hoisted himself to 22 Majors, stretching over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the all-time ranking. The 35-year-old from Belgrade will try to redeem himself at Wimbledon, where he will go hunting for his seventh seal.
