Miami Open: Kyrgios beats Rublev, Swiatek new world no.1

Iga Swiatek is the new world no.1 in the WTA ranking. The Indian Wells champion defeated Viktorija Golubic 6-2 6-0, not only qualifying for the 3rd round of the Miami Open tournament, but reaching another sensational milestone in her young career.

At the end of the match, Swiatek receives a floral tribute from Lindsay Davenport and James Blake, the director of the tournament, to celebrate this historic milestone: she is the first Polish to accomplish the feat, after Agnieszka Radwanska had reached second place after Wimbledon 2022.

Victory of Paula Badosa for 7-5 7-5 against Marie Bouzkova, certainly always a difficult player. Victories and qualifications came for Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova and Yulia Putintseva. Recall that Naomi Osaka and Cori Gauff also qualified for the third round.

Serena Williams is not present in Miami. Nick Kyrgios takes a brutal win against Andrey Rublev at the Miami Open 2022 2nd round, seeded number four, evidently short of energy after the grueling tournaments between Australia and California.

The final 6-2 6-0 is still surprising. Defeat with recriminations for Lorenzo Sonego at the opening of the day. Frances Tiafoe solving the very complicated challenge with Brandon Nakashima in the third set. Grigor Dimitrov defeated against MacKenzie McDonald.

Keep making progress Thanasi Kokkinakis. Fresh from the sieve of qualifications and from the success against Richard Gasquet, the Australian tennis player also beats Diego Schwartzman. Alexander Zverev's challenge with Borna Coric, on his return after a year in the ATP Tour, also passes the Cerundolo brothers.

Italians Jannik Sinner and Fabio Fognini win. Jannik Sinner beats Email Ruusuvuori in the second round of the Miami Open by 6-4 4-6 7-6 (10). Sinner will face Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round.
Fabio Fognini wins against Taro Daniel for 6-7 (1) 6-2 7-6 (4) and gives himself the super-challenge in the third round Nick Kyrgios. We recall Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are not in Florida.
