Australian Open 2021: Rafael Nadal reached the 3rd round!

Rafael Nadal appeared increasingly in condition and he has no problem getting the pass for the third round of the Australian Open 2021. The Spanish champion, number two in the world, continues the chase towards the dream 21st Slam and has no problem beating the American tennis player Mmoh, number 177 in the world rankings.

He finishes in one hour and 49 minutes. The first set flies away quickly with Rafa who goes on immediately and closes the first set in less than half an hour on the result of 6-1. In the second set the American tries to react and shows some interesting ideas, keeps his batting rounds without problems although he does not create problems in the service of Nadal who gets the break in the fifth game and who keeps it until the end, thus closing on 6-4.

In the third set Mmoh cancels several first break points, but must surrender in the fifth and seventh game, thus closing with the result of 6-1 6-4 6-2. The Russian Daniil Medvedev also advances without problems and enters the third round and thus wins his sixteenth consecutive victory against Carballes Maena.

Dominated the first and third sets Medvedev only fights in the second and closes in just under two hours with the result of 6-2 7-5 6-1. In the next round the first real tough match for the Russian who will face seed number 28, the Serbian Filip Krajinovic.

Speaking of Russians, the other Russian talent, Andrey Rublev, also advances without problems, beating one of the most fit tennis players of the moment, the South American Thiago Monteiro, with the result of 6-4 6-4 7-6.

In great shape the idol of the house Alex De Minaur who won without worries and played an excellent match with the Uruguayan Cuevas, defeated with the result of 6-3 6-3 7-5. He will face the blue Fabio Fognini and advance the possible Eighth (much awaited in Australia) against Rafael Nadal.

Rafael Nadal on his back problem

"The back problem is not under control, far from it. I continue to do what I can on the pitch, trying to find a way to keep things going. It was important to be on the pitch for a short time during these early matches, but I know time is running out.

I have been with this pain for 18-19 days and I am aware that if we do not find a way to eliminate it, it will be very difficult for me to achieve my goal here," explained a visibly felt Nadal. What seems to be clear, especially to the Majorcan, is that if his back does not improve he will have no chance of winning the tournament: "The evolution of the back problem is not satisfactory.

We have tried several treatments and tomorrow will be an important day because we will try to find the solution with new treatments. If they do not work, I will be at the limit because already in the third round the physical load increases.

With all the respect in the world for Mmoh, today was not a very tough match so I was able to finish the match without undue inconvenience by taking advantage of my cut service," said the Spaniard.
