The Serb could face Taylor Fritz, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Gael Monfils and Alexander Zverev en route to the semi-final, never losing a match after passing the quarter-final round in Melbourne. The last year's finalist Dominic Thiem lead the second quarter, alongside Diego Schwartzman, Grigor Dimitrov, Pablo Carreno Busta, Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

In-form Russians Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev are the players to beat in the third quarter, alongside Roberto Bautista Agut. The 2009 winner Rafael Nadal opens the campaign against Laslo Djere, and could face Stefanos Tsitsipas, Karen Khachanov, Matteo Berrettini and Alex de Minaur on his semi-final path. In the last year's final, Djokovic prevailed over Thiem 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to add the 17th Major to his tally.
