First ATP and WTA Tournaments results of the season!

From Ostrava to Abu Dhabi via Linz. The protagonist? Aryna Sabalenka. Who among other things she has practically unlearned how to lose. The Belarusian tennis player, obviously at the first experience of the season, notes in the notebook of the victims Polona Hercog, Alja Tomljanovic, Ons Jabeur, Elena Rybakina (who in 2020 had collected the vast majority of points right between January and February) Maria Sakkari in the semifinals and, in the final Veronika Kudermetova.

At the second career final in the WTA Tour, the 23-year-old Belarusian wins the comparison from the baseline, she dominates with the available serve and above all gets four breaks. Two in the opening fraction and four in the second set, which she has something to tell only from 5-1.

The 6-2 6-2 final in the WTA in Abu Dhabi (a logical consequence) translates into the fifteenth success in a row, but above all the tenth career title among her greats.

Korda and De Minaur

The first men's final of the season lasts exactly seven minutes.

In Antalya, after a practically perfect week, Alexandr Bublik raises the white flag due to an ankle problem after just two games. Alex de Minaur, who had left twenty-five games overall (twelve only against David Goffin), takes advantage of this in his fourth career title and the first hurray after a 2020 that (apart from the pandemic) had allowed him to stay on the court only on twenty-three occasions also due to a bad series of injuries.

Competing for the crown of the Delray Beach Open - the last tournament before the break - will be Sebastian Korda and Hubert Hurkacz. After the victory against his compatriot John Isner (who could also decide to give up the Australian Open), Petr's son overcomes Cameron Norrie with a very strong 6-3 7-5.

But above all he reaches the first career final in the major circuit and is significantly closer to the world Top 100. Now three places and twenty points away. T he Polish tennis player - champion at Winston Salem in 2019 - instead frees himself in two sets of the American Christian Harrison (Gianluca Mager's executioner) with a 7-6 (4) 6-4 that he builds in just two hours of play.

In Florida he will play the second career final. The greatest tennis stars on the planet, like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep and all the others, will come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, which will be held in Melbourne from 8 February: it will be the most awaited sports event of the first part of the new season.

It will be a very spectacualr season, and all of us hope without the problems of the last one, with some presence of the crowd in the courts across the world. Federer should come back on the court, for the joy of his fans, at the end of February or at the beginning of March after having announced that he will be skipping the Australian Open.

The new season has yet to begin but there is already a desire to put a disastrous 2020 behind us from all points of view and start the new year with the first Grand Slam of the year in the hope that the pandemic can slowly regress and bring back the planet to live seriously and also allow the world of sport to perform in front of the general crowd.
