To try to brighten his birthday, which arrived on Christmas day, his family together with the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad tried in every way to contact the Swiss champion, as explained by one of the woman's granddaughters, Victoria Campenhout: "We have various social media calls and we sent him photos and a video of my grandmother watching her games in the nursing home, actually we have a lot of them.
In addition to this we then wrote to the Swiss tennis association." The answer arrived on time and Roger Federer sent a small and special gift to the retirement home, seasoned with a letter for the centenarian woman who commented on the Swiss's gesture as follows: "This thought made the day even more enjoyable.
I can't believe Roger Federer wrote that note just for me. Tennis has given me really good moments, at the Tennis Club I met my husband."
