Unfortunately, it was in the air but now it is official: Roger Federer will not participate in the Australian Open 2021. The Swiss tennis player, who has been standing still for about a year, has not yet fully recovered from the injury with the double surgery and has thus postponed his return to the field.

The manager of the Swiss athlete, Tony Godsick, announced this news, which will certainly not make tennis and Roger fans all over the world happy. It's a bad blow for all the fans who were already looking forward to Federer's return to the pitch and who will now have to postpone.

Unless there are sensational news, Federer, who is joining forces in Dubai, should return to the field towards the end of February. In the next season Federer will aim to aim for a new triumph at Wimbledon and above all try to win Tokyo 2021, thus winning his first Olympic gold in the single category.

In addition to this Federer will still try to fight in the Slam race with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic: at the moment the Swiss shares with Nadal the title of athlete with the most Slams in history, at 20, with the current number one in the world Novak Djokovic chasing at 17 Majors.

There is certainly concern about how Federer will return after such a long absence, but fans all over the world are looking forward to seeing the Swiss again on a tennis court and will have to wait a little longer.

Godsick's words about Roger Federer

Talking about the condition of the Swiss Godsick, he commented on Federer as follows: "In the last two months Federer has made really great progress, but nevertheless, after consulting with his team, he has decided that the best decision for him is to return to competitions only after the Australian Open 2021."

We saw Federer in an official match for the last time in the semi-final in Melbourne against world number one Novak Djokovic, when, the Swiss already clearly with physical problems, he was defeated sharply in three sets.

The greatests tennis stars on the planet, like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep and all the others, will come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, which will be held in Melbourne from 8 February: it will be the most awaited sports event of the first part of the new season.

It will be a very spectacualr season, and all of us hope without the problems of the last one, with some presence of the crowd in the courts across the world.
